10 travel tips for your travel in Greece

TRAVEL TIPS

Traveling to Greece? Lucky you! Like every destination, there are a few things to know before you travel to Greece. We have compiled a travel tips list for you so you can enjoy your Greek travel to the maximum.

1. Patience & Flexibility

Patience - Flexibility

Don’t sweat the stuff you can’t control. Life is much too short to be angry & annoyed all the time. Did you miss your bus? No worries, there will be another one. ATMs out of money? Great! Take an unplanned road trip over to the next greek village and explore. Sometimes freakouts happen regardless.

2. Wake Up Early

Wake Up Early

Rise at sunrise to have the best attractions all to yourself while avoiding crowds. It’s also a magical time for photos due to the soft diffused light, and usually easier to interact with locals. Sketchy areas are less dangerous in the morning too. Honest hardworking people wake up early; touts, scammers, and criminals sleep in.

3. Stash Extra Cash

Cash is king! If you lose your wallet, your card stops working, or the ATMs run out of money, you’ll be glad you did.

4. Keep An Open Mind

Don’t judge the lifestyles of others. Listen to opinions you don’t agree with. It’s arrogant to assume your views are correct and other people are wrong. Learn about different possibilities, opportunities, people, suggestions and interests.

5. Learn common phrases of greek language

A simple "Parakalo" (=please), "Efharisto" (=thank you), "Gia sas" (=hello) and "Sygnomi" (=I’m sorry) in the Greek language goes a long way.

6. Your carry-on

Put electronics, medications, toothbrush, and an extra pair of underwear in your carry-on. A few important items should always go in your carry-on. A swimsuit is also a good idea because the sea in Greece is always near you!

7. Ask The Locals

Ask the locals to point you to the best restaurants, awesome spots to watch the sunset, the best coffee shops, etc. People in Greece is really happy to guide you!

8. Greece is a sunny place so wear sunscreen and a hat!

Greek sun is almost always present all over the year. So protect your self by wearing a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses!

9. Slow Down & Keep Good Notes

Don’t try to cram Greece in 5 days or Athens into just 3 hours. Take your time to explore. You’ll learn about activities that aren’t in your guidebook and meet people who are eager to show you around.

10. Backup Everything!

Keep both digital and physical copies of your passport, visas, driver’s license, birth certificate, health insurance card, serial numbers and important phone numbers ready to go, in case of an emergency.
