The Thread, one of Vangelis Papathanasiou’s last works, is back on stage at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.
First performed in 2019 at Epidaurus, and then at Saddler’s Wells, the dance performance piece choreographed by Russell Maliphant draws inspiration from Greek traditional dance and mythology.
Vangelis’ electro-orchestral score is yet another grandiose atmospheric composition in the pioneer’s signature style, full of cinematic qualities, incorporating electronic and classical music with traditional Greek instruments such as bagpipe, lyre, and tambourine.
