Rafina is a port town that lies on the Aegean Sea coast, 25 km (16 mi) east of Athens city center serving ferries to the southern part of Euboea (Karystos and Marmari) as well as most of the Cyclades and during summer months the North Aegean islands of Samos, Chios and Ikaria. Its port is the second largest of Attica, after that of Piraeus.
The city of Rafina has a very long and rich history dating back to Ancient Greece when the city was called "Arafen". Today the city hosts a vibrant community of 12,000 locals (50,000 during summer), with an authentic Greek culture and Mediterranean lifestyle.
Rafina port is just some steps away from the city center. It offer shops, services and the famous fish and ouzo serving taverns. You can also visit the picturesque Chapel of Saint Nicholas on the hill over the port, or relax at the beautiful Beach "Marikes" just 1km away.
How to get there
From the Athens Airport to Rafina Port by bus
During the summer holiday season, there is bus connection between Rafina Port and Athens Airport. The departure point is located between the Exits 2 and 3 of airport’s arrivals level (opposite hotel Sofitel).
There are only one-way tickets and cost 4,00 €. You can buy your tickets from the bus driver when you get on the bus. Children under 6 years can travel free.
Working hours: The bus is available daily from 06:00 in the morning until 21:45 in the evening.
Frequency: Buses depart approximately every one hour. The exact departure times from Rafina Port are as follow:

The departure point is the bus terminal of KTEL ATTIKHS is at Rafina Port. There are only one-way tickets and cost 3,00 €. Your can buy your tickets from the bus driver when you get on the bus. Children under 6 years can travel free.

Rafina Port from/to Athens downtown by bus
Departure terminal of the KTEL Attikis buses that perform the itinerary between Athens and Rafina is on the "Nomismatokopio" metro station.
Buses are scheduled every 15-45 minutes, depending on the time and day, from 5:45 to 22:30.
Tickets cost 4.00€ (June 2025 per person – one way) and the trip takes approximately 60 min.
